Man attempts to run over police officer while fleeing scene

A man fleeing the scene of a fuel theft crashed a gate and tried to run over a responding police officer early this morning in south Wichita. The officers fired at his truck several times, striking the windshield at least once. Law enforcement officials captured him hours later after he tried to steal more fuel, and led officers on a chase that ended with a search in muddy fields.

Marple and Newtown police beat for week of Jan. 25

NEWTOWN Drug Paraphernalia A 24-year-old Marple man driving a 1999 Dodge was arrested in the parking lot of Carriage House Apartments on Bishop Hollow Road, 11:15 p.m., Jan. 16, and charged with simple possession, drug paraphernalia and traffic control signals, after the car made a left turn against a red light, said police.

Vehicle damaged when suspect flees

Officers with the Lakeland Police Department arrested two suspects early Sunday in separate vehicle burglaries. Wesley Whitmore, an 18-year-old Polk County resident, and a 17-year-old Lakeland girl are facing a variety of charges.
